Toolbar Icon Shortcuts

You do not need to grab that mouse and click on File, Edit, View, etc., to gain access to Word features and options.

The Menu Bar can be activated via the keyboard two ways:

Alt + the underlined letter of the menu item, then the underlined letter of the feature or option you need.  You can also activate the Menu Bar with F10.

To use keyboard shortcuts on one of your toolbars, press F10 to activate the menu bar, then press Ctrl + Tab to activate the underlying toolbars.

Navigate through toolbar icons with Tab, arrow keys, or

Shift + Tab to select previous icons, then Enter to invoke the action.

Toolbar icons are simply shortcuts to features and options located on the various menu items.  You have the ability to customize the Standard and Formatting toolbars by adding or deleting icons you use most often.

When you quit Word, you will be presented with a message asking if you want to save changes to the Normal template.  Answer Yes
